The yak ox lives on the Tibetan plateau, the highest area on earth. It has an altitude rising well above 3,000 metres and temperatures dipping below 30 degrees Celsius. Because of their noble and rare nature (each yak gives about 100 grams to 1 kg of down per year), this precious down was reserved for the emperors of the forbidden city for centuries.

Yaks are adapted to the extreme conditions of their environment, and this is reflected in all the qualities our yak knits have. Yak wool is up to 30 times warmer than sheep's wool and more resistant and durable than cashmere.
It is an exceptional product with incredible softness that is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic. Yaks lose their down in spring when they are moulting, which attaches to the bushes of pastures. So when we talk about "harvesting" or
"handpicking", this is a method that is more ecological than classical shearing of animals. 

Yak wool is purer and more durable than other types of wool; it does not require chemical abrasion treatments that usually result in irritating or rough wool. The natural colour of yak fibres is brown. to preserve the beautiful nature of the wool, we ensure that the fibres are not over-bleached and therefore use the natural colour as a base, resulting in a deep and darker colour palette.
