The Louis Poulsen Toldbod glass pendant lamp has a subtle design that ensures that the space in which it hangs does not become too crowded. The pendant lamp radiates soft light downwards and into the surroundings. The elliptical shape of the glass lampshade also helps to ensure that you never look directly into the light source. The glass lampshade is mouth-blown opal glass. The luxury of this pendant lamp is even extended to the power cable that powers the light source, as this cable is covered in textile.

The luminaire provides glare-free light that is largely directed downwards. The opal glass provides pleasant and uniform illumination of the space around the luminaire.

THE STORY BEHIND...
The Toldbod luminaires were designed on the basis of the PH elliptical reflector. This was Poul Henningsen's last attempt at street lighting design before his death. In his time, this luminaire did not get much further than a test for the municipalities in an urban area north of Copenhagen. The original elliptical reflector was designed for a 100 W incandescent lamp. Since Poul Henningsen's first attempt, the luminaires have changed enormously; the materials and surface treatments have undergone radical development. The design is very modest and therefore easy to fit into any architectural environment.
